From June 14-27, 2026, Edmund Rice International held its annual summer Human Rights Training Course for Edmund Rice educators from across the Global Network. 11 total participants joined in this summer’s training, hailing from Kenya, India, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the U.S. The 3 participants from North America were Christine Chana (Iona Prep), Dr. Jimena Perry (Iona University), and James Higdon (Brother Rice Michigan).
Participants had the chance to learn from ERI’s staff about the Human Rights Council and its mechanisms, and took the opportunity to visit the UN Human Rights Council at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Upon returning back to their home country, participants will work to implement what they learned through the course in an advocacy campaign in their school community.
