Support TPS for Haiti in the U.S. Senate

Despite the best efforts of advocates, faith communities, and immigrant families, the Supreme Court ruled against Temporary Protected Status (TPS) protections for Haitians. As a result, 350,000 Haitians in the United States could lose their work permits and legal status starting as soon as July 10, making them vulnerable to deportation back to an unstable country.

Senator Markey of Massachusetts has introduced S. 4814, a bill to require the Secretary of Homeland Security to designate Haiti for Temporary Protected Status. S. 4814 is the companion bill of H.R. 1689, which would extend Temporary Protected Status for Haitians through 2029, recently passed the House, and is scheduled on the Senate calendar.

Encourage the Proper Use of Global Health Funding

Approximately $2 billion in unspent U.S. global health funding is set to expire on September 30, 2026. These funds would be used to support programs that prevent the spread of infectious diseases, reduce child and maternal mortality, and strengthen health systems in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
