On March 18, 2022, Bro. Brian Bond, the Executive Director of Edmund Rice International, hosted a training session for the United Nations Universal Periodic Review (UPR) for members of Edmund Rice Schools in North America. On the call, participants were able to learn more about how the U.N. holds each member state accountable on its record for human rights and how Edmund Rice International works to support these efforts. Bro. Bond held a second training for students and staff members from schools in Latin America on April 22. The UPR for Peru will be held in early 2023, and written statements will be submitted in June. Paola Miranda, the Director of Defensoria Edmundo Rice (the ERCB Latin America Advocacy Office) will be coordinating the submission of the UPR for Peru, and will be working with students from schools in Latin and North America to gather information for the report.
