St. Laurence

Students from St. Laurence High School, Br. Rice High School as well as Marist High School and Mother MacAuley High School in Chicago all participated in a burial service for those marginalized in Chicago.

The burial service took place on November 14th at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Chicago and involved the burial of the cremains of 145 individuals and 60 unborn babies. The students participated by acting as honorary pallbearers for the coffins as they were unloaded from the hearses. They followed the remains into the chapel for an interment service conducted by Fr. Larry Sullivan. At the end, each student placed a single white rose upon the coffin. Fr. Larry blessed the coffin with holy water, each student then had the chance to do the same.

The coffins were then buried in the cemetery in a section that had been donated for this occasion by the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
