On Saturday, July 24, 2021, Bishop Robert Guglielmone, and the Community of St. John Parish in North Charleston came together to celebrate and thank the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers for their 24 years of dedicated service to the Parish and the Diocese of Charleston, SC. During the Liturgy, Bishop Guglielmone spoke about the generosity of the Brothers in coming to the Diocese and in particular he spoke about Brother Ed Bergeron's dedicated work for the people of North Charleston and Charleston; "the New Street Community has been a beacon of light for many over the years."

Brother Ed spoke of his love for the Diocese and for the Parish and the effects that both have had on his life as a Christian Brother. Ed reminded the parishioners that they gave him and Brother Spencer Tafuri far more than they gave them. Brother Peter O'Loughlin brought greetings and gratitude on behalf of the Province. Following Mass, a potluck dinner in the grand tradition of the South capped off a memorable afternoon of praise and thanksgiving. Special thanks to all those who helped in any way to make the closing ritual for the New Street Community a meaningful event.
