On May 5th, schools across the Edmund Rice Global Network celebrated Founder’s Day, the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice. This year, school’s centered their work on Founder’s Day on the importance and promotion of mental health awareness amidst the ongoing pandemic and during May’s Mental Health Awareness Month.

Students at Tampa Catholic used post-it notes to promote positivity around campus (pictured right) while Catholic Memorial had a faculty member lead a 5 minute breathing meditation over the loudspeaker during lunch as a way to destress. Faculty and staff at CM also brought their dogs to campus to provide students with a smile and students were invited to meet after school to discuss mental health and its importance.

Students at Iona Prep also raised awareness of mental health through post-it notes and information tables at lunches. Iona Prep’s School Counseling Office has spent the month of May creating a 4-week video series for the school community about various aspects of mental health.
