During the week of May 5th, Christian Brother schools across the world celebrated Founder’s Day, the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice, with Masses, prayer services, rallies, advocacy campaigns, and more. This year, Edmund Rice Christian Brother Schools in North America participated in a “We Stand for Refugees” campaign that advocated for refugee rights and urged U.S. Congress to reinstate the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
In celebration of Founder’s Day, Edmund Rice International hosted a Global Schools Meet on Zoom on May 6th, 2025. On this call, over 150 student youth ambassadors and staff members from across the Global Edmund Rice Network were invited to share the many ways in which their school communities have been advocating for social justice and human rights causes.
In April, the ERCBNA Advocacy Office, in conjunction with students from Iona University, Edmund Rice International, the International Presentation Association, the Company of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, and the Congregation of the Mission, submitted a joint statement for the upcoming November 2025 Universal Periodic Review of the United States.
